Licensed Plumber
Required education, training, and experience
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must have and Keep a Plumbing License
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
- Hold a valid North Carolina driver's license
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Perform skilled work in installation, service maintenance, and needed repairs of fixtures and piping.
- Install, maintain, and perform repairs to kitchen, bathroom, and boiler equipment such as pumps, regulators, hot water heater, heat exchanges, and bathroom fixtures, as well as oil, water, and steam lines.
- Troubleshoot all types of boiler equipment.
- Test, calibrate, adjust controls for boilers and replace parts as needed.
- Perform water treatment tests on boilers and closed-loop water systems.
- Replace and/or repair pumps, traps, water coolers, bathroom fixtures, and other parts handling water, as well as steam or condensate return water.
- Performs routine maintenance on cafeteria equipment.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and work orders.
- Must maintain a current listed and readily available telephone number and be subject to call of service twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
- Must be able to routinely lift up to 40 pounds.

- Maintenance Dept. will furnish all hand tools required for performing plumbing duties.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form in English.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is often required to walk, use hands to handle and feel objects and tools, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, crawl and/or kneel.
- The employee must regularly lift up to 50 lbs and on occasion 75 pounds. Specific vision ability required includes close vision.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee sometimes works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- Have a working knowledge of the standard practices, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance of the school system.
- Be familiar with occupational hazards, necessary safety precautions, applicable codes, and regulations.
